Membership Registration

*The fee for membership is built-in to our conference rate and therefore included when you register for our annual conference. In other words, if you attend our conference, you have already paid for your membership.

A Social Studies Advocate

The Long Island Council for the Social Studies is the voice of social studies on Long Island. As one of the largest and strongest social studies organizations in the United States, LICSS also speaks for its members at the State and even the national level.

Strength in Numbers

When you join the LICSS, you add your voice to that of our 1300 members. Through its newsletter, position papers, and active in person participation in social studies education on Long Island, in New York, and on the national scene, LICSS advocates for the classroom social studies teacher.

Workshops & Seminars

In addition to the Annual Conference, members attend other LICSS programs at member rates. These include:

  • Workshops focused on particular grade levels and content for which Professional Development hours are documented

  • Seminars for Supervisors

LICSS Website

The LICSS website provides another means of keeping member up to date on actions and programs, and quickly gets registration forms into members hands. It also offers a single, direct means of activating links to social studies information and resources at all grade levels and in all social studies content areas.

The Latest Information

Not only does the LICSS advocate for social studies, it keeps you informed on local, State Education Department, and even national activities that affect the social studies.
